Group photo at the gate of Invercoe campsite we set out riding along the edge of Loch Leven
We crossed the bridge over Loch Leven heading towards Fort William we would be riding along the edge of Loch Eil with a strong head wind , riding along the edge of the Loch we were exposed to a very strong wind,
it was around 20 miles to Fort William and the winds were taking their toll on everyone's energy levels, we came across a roadside cafe and decided to take time out for a drink and a rest.
Taking time to rest allowed Andy to get onto the foreshore for some shots along the loch.
we continued along the A82 but thankfully we left the Loch and the strong winds, we rode on to Spean Bridge with Ben Nevis behind us. We came across a bronze monument dedicated to the British commandos.
We stopped for lunch admiring the surrounding mountains as you can see below the hills and mountains make an impressive view.
We pressed on riding along Loch Lochy, again the open water exposed us to a strong wind sapping energy from our legs, by the time we arrived at Fort Augustus we decided to stop at a cafe for a rest, without realising it we had stopped at the end of Loch Ness and the start of the Caledonian Canal.A view of the locks
The first lock newly rented boats captains have navigate,
The two Jo's looking around the locks.
As we were having a hot coffee and a well earned piece of cake, the owner of the shop came out and started taking tables and chairs inside she told us you could see rain coming over Loch Ness so we donned our waterproof hi vis and set off on our last 15 miles again into a strong head wind.
5 miles along we came to a picturesque old bridge at Invermoriston it provided a welcome excuse for a break from the wind.
as we rode on along Loch Ness the weather closed in, fortunately no rain but it became very misty so we saw very little of the loch itself,
9 hours after setting out we arrived at the campsite one of the worst we had stayed in. The area rep for Help for Heroes was waiting to greet us and have a chat on how we were getting on.
While we all took it in turns to get showered and changed Lynn and H prepared curry and rice for tea and after possibly our hardest ride to date everyone was ready for it. Over the whole journey
Lynn and H managed to turn out some quality meals on a caravan cooker.
Everyone about to get stuck in.
