GORRAN TO CALLINGTON.
Day 2 started at 7am, where we emerged from the tent to be greeted by a very murky and misty morning,
we were hoping by the time we finished breakfast, packed the tent and sorted
ourselves out the mist would lift a little but as you can see below it got worse,
We decided to wait a while and as soon as we could see the mist starting
to lift, we lined up for a group photograph and we were off for day 2.
The mist turned to a light rain, not heavy enough for us to need our wet weather gear on, but it did clear the mist. The rain didn't last long and as we were starting to look for a place for lunch it stopped raining.

a very personal thing especially the quantity required.

Fed and watered we set off for the afternoon ride heading for a campsite Compton
park in Callington. On the way we came across the nursery of the Duchy of Cornwall.

Finally after 7 hours and 20 minutes we arrived at Compton Park campsite the last 6 miles were a steady uphill climb to finish the day off our pitch was at the top of a short steep gravel road.

Both Jo's happy to be at the end of a long ride.
First things first we drank our protein recovery (chocolate milkshake) then we set about finding a flattish spot for the tent.
Once the tent was up we found the inside was very wet, we soon worked out moisture from us and our clothes was inside the tent, each morning we were dropping the tent before the sun had chance to dry the moisture.
As you can see in the above picture the boys get to put the tent up while the girls get to do other important things .......(see Below) well they have had a long bike ride.
The campsite was just getting started and the ground left a little to be desired but the shower block was all new and very nice and the bonus of riding uphill was the great view we got as the sun was setting on the hills
Day 2 was originally planned to be 75 miles with over 6000 feet of elevation, after riding a loaded bike 45 miles and climbing 4500 feet during Coast 2 Coast we were a little concerned and so we added a day to reduce the mileage and the elevation, with hind sight it was a good move.
Distance 42.7 Miles
Elevation 3842 feet
Riding time 5:30:25
Total distance 96.5 miles
Total elevation 8297 feet
Total Riding time 11 hours 55 minutes
